DRIVe is Volvo’s new eco-friendly, fuel-efficient technology that will be unveiled at the Paris motor show in October 2008, and we'll see it first on the C30, S40 and V50 1.6-litre diesel models. All of these cars achieve CO2 figures below 120g/km, which places them in the UK's VED tax band B and, according to Volvo, makes them the most efficient cars in their respective classes. UK sales start in January 2009.
Honda has revealed their Urban SUV Concept at the Detroit Auto Show, previewing a new compact SUV based on the new Honda Jazz. The latest offering in this burgeoning sector is the Honda Urban SUV Concept – teased in December – debuting at the Detroit Auto Show this week and previewing a new, more compact SUV, from Honda, designed to sit below the CR-V. The Urban SUV has a relatively low roof line, lots of crease lines, rounded shapes and a statement nose, and does look a lot like the Nissan Juke’s smoother older sibling.
UPDATED: The base 2014 Kia Forte sedan will cost $16,700 including destination when it goes on sale next month, fitting slightly below its compact competitors. Kia is touting the 2014 Forte as the least expensive in its class, and the compact sedan does in fact cost $80 less than the redesigned 2013 Nissan Sentra at $16,780, $90 less than the new 2013 Dodge Dart at $16,790 and $225 less than the 2013 Ford Focus sedan at $16,995. The new price is a slight increase from the 2013 model, which cost $16,175 after shipping charges.
